Eagle Eye

Since I saw a preview of "Eagle Eye", I was looking forward to seeing it.
And it did not failed to live up to my expectation!!!

One day, the main character, Jerry(Shia LaBeouf), had a call from strange woman's voice. She made him follow her instructions because she can control all kinds of machine like train, computer and so on. Rachel(Michelle Monaghan) who is a single mother also had a similar call from her, and they had to follow her toghether although they've never met. Then They try to find who the woman is...

During the movie, I felt uneasy all the time!!!XD I really like the story and the ending of this. I couldn't tell about it, but I'm sure you may like it too.
DVD will release on February 13th in Japan. Try to watch it!!!

The Dark Knight

Have you already seen "the Dark Knight"?
This is the sequel to the story of "Batman Begins" as I introduced before. I think this is the best movie I've ever seen.

The main character is Batman, of course, and he is actually Bruce Wayne(Christian Bale) who is awealthy chairperson of Wayne Enterprises. This time, two villains appeared; the Joker(Heath Ledger) and Two-face(Aaron Eckhart). They are really famous and popular among the batman's fan. When I saw this movie, I was impressed by the Joker Ledger acted. His Joker was so realistic and amazing!!! Also its action scene was cool!!! In spite of comic story, this is worth seeing.
So if you haven't seen it yet, please watch it!!!!!

DEPARTED

This is a remake movie from "Infernal Affairs", and some famous actors starred in it such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, and Jack Nicholson. It's in sooooo gorgeous members!!
Many people said that Infernal Affairs is great, and I've never watched it. However, Departed is exciting movie too.

It is a suspense movie which is about a strife between the police and the mafia. The main characters are 2 men; one guy, Colin(Matt Damon) sent to the police on a spy mission for the mafia, and the other guy, Billy(DiCaprio) spied on the Mafia's movements as a policeman.
They're trying to find out each other who their spy is, and they are distressed by their missions.

Matt Damon is one of my favorite acters.
He looks pretty cute, right?:)

That's why I thought to see this movie, but it was beyond my expectations! Also, I really admired Nicholson's acting. I am always impressed him when I saw his movie!!
When I first saw it, I was really shocked at the end. If you have never watched it, you're sure to be surprised at it!But I like this ending even though it's shocking.
I hope you will like it as I did:D

The Prestige

I'd like to introduce this movie, "The Prestige".

(Picture is from http://www.amazon.com/)

This movie is about 2 guys who have been feuding for a long time.
I think it is kind of a SF movie.
Even though I've read the original book(of course in Japanese:P), this movie was a little difficult for me.The original and movie script are not exactly the same ending. I felt that movie is easier to understand.

Then why do I like it? Because of my favorite actors are stared in it. The main characters are two magicians; Mr. Borden(Christian Bale) and Mr. Angier(Hugh Jackman). They were leading cat-and-dog life because Angier thought Borden had killed his wife, and he was interested in Borden's magic. So he tried to make a brand-new magic, but actually its magic had a big problem...

I'm convinced that you would be surprised at its ending.
So if you like SF movies or a magic, you should watch it!!!

Stardust

''Stardust'' is a fantasy movie which was based on the book for children written by Neil Gaiman.

I recently watched it and this was so excited!!!

I think most part of the story is romance. The main characters, Tristan and Yvaine didn't like each other at the first sight. Additionally, Tristan had been in love with another girl and he promised the women to take a fallen shooting star for her birthday. But the fallen star was actually Yvaine, and she was seeking her life by witches because if they eat a star, they can be younger and stronger. After Tristan and Yvaine met, they walked around the world they didn't know and gradually fell in love with each other.

This story is very fantastic and adventurous story, but the romance scene are soooo nice!! One of my favorite scene is that Tristan noticed his true love for Yvaine. After they confirmed their love, he went to see the girl who he loved before and said ..... Sorry I cannot tell, because it was so funnyXD

WANTED

When I watched its commercial on TV, I thought it was same as movies I've ever seen. However it was not!! The action scene was exciting and funny, and the main character, Wesley, is really cool!!!
At first he was lazy and timid, but he would became very smart, strong, and cool by training for joining in Fraternity of Assassins. These assassins have missions to kill people who was written on cloth of fate.

The acter who played Wesley is James McAvoy. He played Mr.Tumnus in "The Clonicles of Narnia." His picture is below:

Sooooo cool!!!

As you can see in the official site, there are some famous acters and actress in the movie.
For instance, Morgan Freeman is one of the most famous acter in the world. He acted Slone who is the top of Fraternity of Assasins. Angelina Jolie played Fox who is a position as a heroin. But she is strong and coach him to be strong.

The good point of this movie is not only the acters and actress, but also its funny cool story and action scene. I cannot tell you the story, of course, but I'm sure that you'll probably enjoy the action scene very much!!! So I strongly recomend to see it while it is shown!!

INDIANA JONES and the KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL

The newest Indiana Jones adventure begins in the desert Southwest in 1957 - the height of the Cold War. Indy and his sidekick Mac (Ray Winstone) have barely escaped a close scrape with nefarious Soviet agents on a remote airfield. Now, Professor Jones has returned home to Marshall College - only to find things have gone from bad to worse. His close friend and dean of the college (Jim Broadbent) explains that Indy's recent activities have made him the object of suspicion, and that the government has put pressure on the university to fire him. On his way out of town, Indiana meets rebellious young Mutt (Shia LaBeouf), who carries both a grudge and a proposition for the adventurous archaeologist: If he'll help Mutt on a mission with deeply personal stakes, Indy could very well make one of the most spectacular archaeological finds in history - the Crystal Skull of Akator, a legendary object of fascination, superstition, and fear...

(From INDIANA JONES official site:www.indianajones.com/site/index.html)

I went to see this movie last week. It was very interesting and I recommend you to see it right away!!!
I watched only 2 movies that Indy stared in when I was a child. Both are really interesting and I still remember the stories. It has been about 10 years since the last INDIANA JONES was shown. Although there is a lot of time between this and the last one, I thought Indy was still young and strong. Also, its story was so exciting as same as the other stories in this series! It had a lot of thrilling and funny scenes, so I had never felt boring during the movie.
And I like Shia LaBeouf 's acting. Actually He is my favorite actor and I saw this movie for him:) He had appeared in "Transformer" and "Disturbia", and I saw both! I think he has a talent as an actor and especially I like his funny acting. He is appearing in "EAGLE EYE" in October, so I'm sure to see it:D
If you have some interest in him, you should see or watch the newest INDIANA JONES!!!

Batman Begins

Batman Begins explores the origins of the Batman legend and the Dark Knight's emergence as a force for good in Gotham. In the wake of his parents' murder, disillusioned industrial heir Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) travels the world seeking the means to fight injustice and turn fear against those who prey on the fearful. He returns to Gotham and unveils his alter-ego: Batman, a masked crusader who uses his strength, intellect and an array of high tech deceptions to fight the sinister forces that threaten the city...
(Story and Picture From the Batman Begins official site:http://www2.warnerbros.com/batmanbegins/index2.html)

When I was in a primary school, I saw "Batman" for the first time. My father often watched Batman series. I always sat next to him and watch it with him, so I love Batman very much!
This is the newest one in the series. I know a little about the cause of beginning Batman, but the first duty was unexpected turn. Batman always fight with villains such as The Joker, The Penguin, Two-face etc. This movie had a new villain, Ra's Al Ghul who Ken Watanabe played. In fact, the scene he appeared was really short!X( So I don't remenber about him. I think the main enemy is actually his former master, but he looked ordinary people and was different from villain I knew. This point was new and very interesting for me!!

The actor of Batman is my favorite actor, Christian Bale. He appeared "The New World" as John Rolfe. He plays many kinds of people and his acting is so great! His next movie is "The Dark Knight" which is the latest Batman series. This is a movie about the fight between The Joker and Batman, and Heath Ledger played The Joker. He was famous as a actor in "Brokeback Mountain". Though some people have already known, he passed away 6 month ago. I was really shocked at the news, but I'm looking forward to the Dark Knight!!!

21

Columbia Pictures' action/adventure "21" is inspired by the true story of the very brightest young minds in the country - and how they took Vegas for millions.Ben Campbell (Jim Sturgess) is a shy, brilliant M.I.T. student who - needing to pay school tuition - finds the answers in the cards. He is recruited to join a group of the school's most gifted students that heads to Vegas every weekend armed with fake identities and the know-how to turn the odds at blackjack in their favor. With unorthodox math professor and stats genius Micky Rosa (Kevin Spacey) leading the way, they've cracked the code. By counting cards and employing an intricate system of signals, the team can beat the casinos big time. Seduced by the money, the Vegas lifestyle, and by his smart and sexy teammate, Jill Taylor (Kate Bosworth), Ben begins to push the limits. Though counting cards isn't illegal, the stakes are high, and the challenge becomes not only keeping the numbers straight, but staying one step ahead of the casinos' menacing enforcer: Cole Williams (Laurence Fishburne).
(From official site:http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/21/)

As stated above, this is based on the fact. I couldn't believe it at first!
The story was well arranged. it had many elements including friendship, romance, betray, and so on. Counting cards is difficult for me to understand, but I enjoyed the story and felt exciting very much!! It is a wonder that this movie is not so famous in Japan. Although I cannot tell the last part of the scene, I think you will be very surprised and grin with delight and fun when you see it. So if you have a opportunity to see or watch this, I'm sure that you can enjoy it:)

Fantastic Four

Marvel Comics' first family of superherodom, the Fantastic Four, hits the big screen in a light-hearted and funny adventure. It begins when down-on-his-luck genius Reed Richards (Ioan Gruffudd, Horatio Hornblower) has to enlist the financial and intellectual help from former schoolmate and rival Victor Von Doom (Julian McMahon, Nip/Tuck) in order to pursue outer-space research into human DNA. Also on the trip are Reed's best friend, Ben Grimm (Michael Chiklis, The Shield); his former lover, Sue Storm (Jessica Alba, Dark Angel, Sin City), who's now Doom's employee and love interest; and her hotshot-pilot brother, Johnny Storm (Chris Evans, Cellular). Things don't go as planned, of course, and the quartet becomes blessed--or is it cursed?--with superhuman powers: flexibility, brute strength, invisibility and projecting force fields, and bursting into flame. Meanwhile, Doom himself is undergoing a transformation.

I love the movie which is based on American comic like MARVEL, and most of them have one hero in each movies. But this movie has four heroes! They each have different super power and fight against a villain in cooperation.
However before they could cooperate each other, they often quarreled among themselves. Johnny wanted to stand out because he is hero, but the other thought they should not attract people's attention. This problem is very realistic despite an imoractical world, but it's interesting.
If you can use super power, how would you think?
In my case I would want to stand out but probably hide. That's because I am shy!!!X(

Van Helsing

Gabriel Van Helsing(HUGH JACKMAN) is a man cursed with a past he cannot recall and driven by a mission he cannot deny. Charged by a secret organization to seek out and defeat evil the world over, his efforts to rid the world of its nightmarish creatures have been rewarded with the title that now follows him: murderer. Van Helsing roams the globe an outcast, a fugitive,a loner, himself hunted by those who don't understand the true nature of calling. When dispatched to the shadowy world of Transylvania, Van Helsing finds a land still mired in its past where legendary creatures of darkness come to life a place ruled over by the evil, seductive and undefeatable vampire, Count Dracula(RICHARD ROXBURGH) and it is Dracula that Van Helsing has been sent to terminate..
From official site: www.vanhelsing.net/
(This picture is from amazon.com)

This movie is based on the Abraham Van Helsing, a character from 'Dracula' written by Bram Stoker. In the novel Van Helsing is just a professor, but in the movie he is an immortal hero!!
Actually there are not many action scenes. But I like it because it is easy to understand the story, and I love the fashion and atmosphere of this time. The costumes of characters are really cute!!! Also, some famous creatures or people appeared. For instance, Mr.Hyde, Frankenstein,
and Count Dracula, of course. They have a powerful personality, so I couldn't forget even though their scenes were short.
The other reason that I like this movie is the actor, Hugh Jackman. I've liked him very much since I watched the movie 'Kate & Leopold.' When I watched him, I was surprised because he is really so cool and his acting was very good!!!!!:)
I think you can enjoy it easily.
So if you have a time, please watch this movie!!

The Boondock Saints

Fraternal twins Connor and Murphy MacMannus are on a mission from God to rid Boston of crime. However, instead of signing up for the police force, these hard-drinking Irish-American brothers take the law into their own hands a la Charles Bronson in DEATH WISH. Heralded as saints by the city's beleaguered residents, the brothers also attract the attention of Paul Smecker, the openly gay FBI special agent assigned to investigate the spate of killings amongst the ranks of the Russian mafia.
(From Boondock Saints official site:http://www.boondocksaints.com/)
(This picture is from amazon.com)

I want to see this movie any number of times, and I convinced that I never lose interest in this one. That is because this is the most interesting movie for me!
The main scene which MacMannus brothers appealed to the criminals and law in a court was very forceful, and I think a theme of this movie is similar to death penalty because the end of the movie showed the interview that killing offenders is good or bad. I think this is very difficult problem, and this movie made me think deeply about that. And because the brothers are not HERO, their mission was not carry out smoothly, so I think it makes mission scenes more real.
Without difficult points, it has also some funny scenes. Before accomplishing the mission, Connor and Murphy told jokes each other. Also, most of the scenes which their common friend, Rocco, appeared were very funny! But I think the scene that Smecker infiltrated enemy territory was the funniest one. I don't want to write the reason, so please watch this movie!

Equilibrium

After the Third World War, the leader who survived founded an absolute police state. People are obliged to take Prozium(liquid medicine which restrain their emotion), and books, pictures, and music are prohibited because the state thought "the feeling" is the origin of war. Preston, a man trained to locate and arrest offenders, holds the rank of "Grammaton Cleric First Class", which means he is a master of 'Gun Kata'(this is a kind of martial art). One day he could not take Prozium, and he notices the feeling gradually...
(This picture is from amazon.co.jp)

This is one of my favorite action movies. The original title is "Equilibrium" and Japanese title is "Rebellion". These titles have opposite meaning, but both express this movie very well.
Most of people think "Equilibrium" is a B movie, and I agree with that because there are many movies like this scenarios in B movies. But the action scene is much more exciting than others! The scene of 'Gun Kata' is the highlight of this movie. 'Gun Kata' is a fictitious martial art, and is a combination of Oriental martial arts and two handguns. Using this, while attacking enemies, the person also can protect himself. Also, I think Christian Bale, an actor who played Preston, is a great actor. His acting is easy to understand how Preston feels then, so I could be absorbed in the story more.
If the person who like action movies has never seen it, I'd like to recommend this movie!

The Purpose of This Blog

The purpose of this blog is to introduce action movies that I have seen, and to write review and my impression of action movies. As I am Japanese, I can find some differences between foreign countries and Japan from movies. So I would also like to write about differences of cultures.
